Preparing to enter the market

Hello BiggerPockets! My wife and I have been wanting to enter the real estate investment market and feel the time is quickly approaching. We are currently working on our RE licenses here in Colorado. I've been reading through the forums but my main question is what challenges or hurdles did you face in the beggining of your careers? What were the steepest learning curves faced and how have you been able to progress in your careers?
