Starting Out: Investing in Tax Liens

Hello, does anyone have any advice about investing in tax liens? If it's better to invest as an LLC or buy under your name? I live in California so I'm not sure if I start an LLC here even though I am going to be buying tax liens and eventually property in other states such as, Kentucky and Arkansas. Please be so kind if you also know of what type of attorneys I need to reach out to regarding starting an LLC for real estate. I keep searching google but I'm not that confident in what I am finding. I see how to file on the states website but not sure if I need to get legal advice, or file on websites like legal zoom or if it's even necessary to have an LLC. Thank you!!
