Finding owner addresses to send out letters

Hello, I have a question regarding steps after you created your " I'd like to buy your home letter" and are preparing to send them out. So I recently drove around looking for abandoned homes. I am trying to become more proactive and find some off the mls deals even though I still have to work on finding funding but thats another subject. So I copied down the addresses and I started looking up public record on the property so see what information was already out there. My question is, should I send the letter to the actual property or should I do a people search, find the owners actual address and send the letter there? If I send the letter to an abandon home I'm concerned that no one will ever receive it. But how do I find the owners (address)  information and know that it is the correct individual? Any information would be helpful. Thanks.
