Newbie trying to start real estate investing in Orlando, FL.

Hello everyone! My name is Huan and I am a complete newbie in the real estate investing world. I've read books such as Rich Dad, Poor Dad and How to invest with no money down. I've read the beginners guide to real estate investing from BiggerPockets. Now I want to start taking some action from the research that I have done. Are there any investors in Orlando, FL that have some tips on what the market is like here and what strategies will work better in this area?

I currently live at home with my family still and have a full time job. Any advise on how to start would be much appreciated!

Hey @Huan Le - welcome to BP!

Definitely check out @Shawn G.' s meetup - those are a great place to get connected with like minded people and get solid referrals.

Start by buying a house! I believe @Brandon Turner has a chapter dedicated to house hacking in his book. Rates are super low right now, and you can get into a property for as little as 3% down, sometimes less if you play your cards right.

If you can find a duplex, triplex of 4-plex, all the better.

I'd check out CFRI & GOREIA as well, both are local meetups that have been around for a while.

Listen to the podcasts - immerse yourself in knowledge and pay attention to which aspects of REI interest you the most.
