Noob career opportunity (need advice)
So my background. I am 28 years old, have bought my first house and have a roommate to offset the mortgage.
I have been working for an inspection company for the last 2 years. With the issues with international trade the company has taken a serious financial hit. Between this and them sending me out of town constantly, on short notice. I had mentioned to friend I may need to start looking for another job.
Well today my old boss who I have been helping out occasionally, offered me a job at the property acquisition and management company she works for. Its a smaller company but they have been buying contracts and property like crazy. (Read as lots of growth)
The down side is I would be making about the same as I am at my current job with the potential to move up quickly. However since they are a smaller company they don't offer health coverage.
My current employer has good coverage plus 401k. Since we go into refineries and other somewhat hazardous places.
So my question is should I leave this company I am with now( the ideal "adult job" as my parents would put it) and take a shot with this company to gain knowledge and contacts and see if this is somehing I could do myself.

If I were you I'd do it. You're 28 years old. Eat right, exercise, keep a cap on it, your health-care needs will be minimal.
Any "adult job" is a trap. Do not end up as the sucker who spends all his days in the cubicle farm mightily wishing he could just spend his days working even harder thirty feet away in one of the tiny managers' offices lining the wall, in front of a window that does not open with blinds that are never opened.
If your parents don't understand, well, it ain't their life.
