Maximize benefits using credit card for flip

I'm looking for a good credit card to use on my next flip I will be spending 40k at least half on material. I assume there is a way to get 20k points or miles ? I've always been very anti credit card after watching my parents rack up 40 cards and who knows how much debt. I know there is a way to use them to benefit myself especially since I'll have all the cash to pay it off immediately. Any suggestions or pro/cons stories would be greatly appreciated.
