New to real estate investing. What‘s the best place to start?

Looking forward to connecting and learning! I’m 23 years old and just got started in learning about real estate investing. My goal is to invest in single family properties. Is that a good place to start? Where should my focus be?

I am also starting in REI @Matt Geving and only 22.

I think it is important to start with what you know. The reason I have not invested in crypto or other hype markets was I did not understand the investment and how it would bring a pay-off.  Other people do and have made good money.

Obviously, you also should consider what type of capital you are working with and what type of network you have. Typically for someone our age and who lacks experience, it would be highly unadvisable to start with something like commercial real estate, or even wholesaling.

Single family and multi-family (duplex, triplex, and quad) are good options. If you invest intelligently you can often live in your investment as well. There seems to be quite a bit of competition for multi-family deals, but once again the overwhelming advice I have received is invest in what you know through and through and not to focus on what other people are doing.

In sum: focus on what you know, not what your options are and that should make it a simpler process.
