Moving to the US in a year... help me prepare!

Posted

Hey everyone!

This is my first post on here. I haven't started in real estate yet but I really, really want to as soon as possible. I am a dual citizen that currently lives in Sweden with my Italian husband and son. So we are planning on moving to the US in about a year or so, basically when my husband will receive his green card. I know that moving over there will mean that it will take some time for me to build credit again, as well as that I need two years of work history before I can go to the bank and get a loan for an investment property.

So my question is whether there is something I can do to speed up that process besides just saving as much money as I can before basically those three years are up? Would buying or starting an American LLC in advance of moving qualify as part of that two year work history? Is there something I can do to start building credit beforehand? Has someone been in the same situation?

We will have some money by that time, not loads but definitely some. Perhaps somewhere between $80,000 and $200,000 depending on a lot of things, to invest in real estate. Tips on the best way to use that money right away to invest in the smartest way to grow my passive income as fast as possible?

Hopefully that makes sense?

Thanks in advance everyone! Am so insanely excited to be able to get started soon.
