Hey BP Community!

I have been saving for my first property and have been eyeing Columbus, OH. Are there any investors out there in Columbus that can give me some insights? I will be out there in June and want to do some scouting! Thank you!

@Megan Blythe Welcome to BP. Please be very cautious of any anecdotal evidence you receive...I know folks are well intentioned, but have no empirical data or findings to support claims. We'd be glad to share some tools that might help if you are looking in the Central Ohio area..feel free to PM me.

Just for perspective, Franklinton has 2 distinct neighborhoods...East of 315 is commercialized and exploding with development, but this has been in the works for 12-years. There is zero availability here, so mark it off your list. Here is your support: https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2017/03/17/slideshow-mapping-the-top-property-owners-in-east.html

West Franklinton is spotty at best...it has the highest murder rate in the city...that's not good...there are only municipal public improvements planned...no earmarked developments outside of an art gallery and a nursing college. The crime index is two and a half times the national average...Franklinton has 9 block groups...SFR's are selling for $15.90 sq. ft. and mutifamilies are selling for $13,583 per unit in some areas.

These are not good metric on any level...

Columbus is a fascinating city...the transition has been fun to watch. Glad you're interested ;)

    Best of luck
