Financing to kick off Wholesaling?

In reading the beginner’s guide on here, I’m seeing that it’s often advertised that Wholesaling is the most simple of the strategies and that you won’t need any money- but that that is inaccurate because “you’ll ultimately need financial resources to build your marketing funnel.” What does this look like practically? Are they referring to attaining a private lender for Wholesaling?
