Investing in the US from outside the country (Internationally)

Hello fellow investors,

For the last month I've been researching and educating myself on the topic of real estate investing and found it extraordinary. However, I live in Uruguay, and the housing market as well as the mortgage interest rates here make it almost impossible for a business to be sustainable. Because of this I wanted to know how hard is it to invest in real estate in the US internationally. Here are some of my current doubts:

  • Do I need to set up an LLC or can I purchase it under my own name?
  • How hard and costly is it to set up an LLC in the US for a non-resident?
  • Will banks provide the same mortgage rates to me than to US residents?
  • How can I find a good and reliable realtor, CPA, attorney, manager, etc. at the place I'm willing to invest at?

Anyway, those are the questions that I can think of right now but I'm sure more will arise as I continue to research. I hope someone can help me out with these doubt and I am also open to hear about anyone who is currently investing in the US from another country.

Thanks,

Matias
