First time investor seeking guidance

I am new to investing in the Seattle area looking for guidance or pointers on how and where someone like me should start out. I’ve listened to a bunch of podcasts and have been reading books such as rich dad poor dad and realized this is something I really want to do. Some questions I have such as do I contact a mortgage broker to see what I can get approved for do I reach out to real estate agents? More or less what is the first step in this journey. I am everyday furthering my knowledge on real estate investing and any input would be greatly appreciated.
