SUCCESSFUL GOAL ACCOMPLISHED

*Long post warning*

It's interesting to see that many individuals only click on the "Success" stories, hoping to capture that energy, "Luck", and the secret sauce. Why do we want that energy? Why do we want to witness luck? But most importantly, what the hell is the secret sauce to success? We all want to be a part of the success, but what are we doing in order to reach it? If you're like me, your thoughts are similar.

I'm a new investor who has lurked the BiggerPockets forums for YEARS, before signing up for a free account. I have spent hundreds of hours watching podcasts, reading books, and reading articles, but realized I didn't have any set plans. Nothing. I just "Wished", and "Wanted". I would daydream while working my W-2 job, driving to work, or working out, about my life as a successful investor. I was sick of it. I started to take action. How? WRITING YOUR GOALS DOWN ON PAPER. Yes. Paper. Writing it down.  @Joshua Dorkin @David Greene @Brandon Turner @Scott Trench and many others have told us about this simple, 30 minute task. Yet, we don't do it. But why? We hear it so often that it goes in one ear, and out the other.

I'll tell you why this is important and also what my success is. Just hang tight :)

I was fed up with myself always just "wanting" this dream, so I sat myself down towards the end of last year, and I downloaded a goals journal online, printed it, and began writing. There are some great ones out there, but this one gave me some instructions on how to begin. I started off writing about the end goal, big dreams that I had (I included family goals as well). I then broke it down to smaller goals to get there. Then smaller ones, and smaller ones. Eventually, after I finished, I realized something. THESE GOALS ACTUALLY LOOK ATTAINABLE AND POSSIBLE! I used my knowledge that I gained, and wrote smaller and smaller steps until the goals seemed less daunting and doable.

One HUGE step, for myself and every single one of you, should be to network. I would have never been able to attend some great meet ups if it had not been written down in my goal journal.

Yesterday, I had an absolutely amazing experience meeting some of my motivators such as @Scott Trench. First off, I want to say congratulations for becoming the CEO of BiggerPockets. @Dave Van Horn and I were talking about how impressed we were, and how much we appreciated BiggerPockets, and the potential you have given us. I'm really excited about the discussion we had regarding BiggerPockets website, and possible future updates.

@Dave Van Horn was great to talk to because he was knowledgeable, and was able to break down the small questions that I had regarding notes. Your book is still in my library, and the next read! If anyone knows Note Investing, it's him. It was awesome to talk to you Dave!

@Jscott  What an open book. Very easy to talk to, and extremely funny. Had a great time talking to you, and I appreciate the golden nuggets you gave me. Awesome advice.

@AlWilliamson You helped me learn to focus on my goals and hone in on what exactly I need to look for. I appreciate you taking the time to talk to me, and giving your perspective.

@KathyFettke You are extremely intelligent, and you have opened my eyes to other opportunities that I didn't even know existed! I'm so excited to do my own research on the amazing content you delivered.

My SUCCESS was staying on the right path, networking, becoming a pro member, analyzing deals daily, reaching out to agents, talking to lenders.. You get the idea. I would have never felt the small successes if I had not written it down. I hope this inspires at least one person to write down their goals, and take action. It's amazing how powerful a pen and paper is.

Thank you to everyone at the SF Bay Summit 2019! @JMartin, you are an awesome host! I plan to come every year and explore other opportunities.

What a successful experience.

Thanks for the awesome shout out Ahmed! To your excellent points in your posts, I think that the fact of the matter is that almost nobody has actually gone through the exercise of actually thinking about what THEY WANT out of life in general, and then forming a plan of action around those desires to get there!

The step after that - of writing it down and taking consistent daily action towards those goals, can only be sustained if you have a powerful why. It sounds like you have taken this step and are well on your way to having a clearly defined goal in mind. And, I'm sure that if you keep that as your motivator and take daily action, that you will be successful in your pursuit! Good luck sir!
