Should I go to a mixer/investor gathering with 0 experience?

This might seem obvious, but I need some backup here :)

So I recently saw an event on my local real estate group website, saying theres a mixer/ meet up soon. I thought it would be a great idea to go to, however my parents are sceptical (I'm 16), but I think that it would be a great place to learn from pros and maybe even find a mentor, even though I have 0 experience. Is it a good idea, or a good waste of time? (Trying to convince my parents too :) )

Thank you!
