Being my own general contractor
I am in the process of building a 70x70 metal building for a retail store on a piece of property I own. I am wondering if it is possible to be my own general contractor and handle all the duties of a GC, i.e. coordinating subcontractors etc. I have no prior training or experience in being a GC and the only knowledge I have at this point is casual experience in construction. The savings are substantial to be my own GC, but I am not sure whether it is possible.
Has anybody been their own general contractor before? If so, could you share any advice? I would also appreciate any resources you can point me towards. Thank you!

@Parish Williamson Good question. Check your state building regs. In North Carolina, you can GC your own residential house as along as you plan to live there for at least 12 months. You have to be a licensed GC to build rental property. I suspect you have to be licensed for retail space as well.
