Newbie from Avondale, PA

Hello BP members, my name is Mel Kite and I currently live in Avondale, PA. I am new investor looking to get started. I found Bigger Pockets a few months ago while looking for more information about financial freedom and how to achieve it. I just joined BP and starting by making my new member introduction here.

A little bit about me. I am an Accountant and Business Valuator Analyst by trade. I had one rental property in 2012 with ex-members of the family which I did not really get involved in the acquisition and selling process then. For the past few years, I have been reading books, listening to podcasts, and learning as much as I can about real estate investing but have now hit the point where I need to turn knowledge into real action. Here I am now, fully taking responsibility and excited to develop my own journey to financial freedom.

I have yet to make my first investment but have put together an idea for a path I would like to follow. I would love to start investing in my backyard market and the surrounding areas but am a bit uncomfortable with my knowledge of the market.

I want to begin with buy and hold a single-family house in the Avondale, PA and surroundings area. The plan would be to do buy-hold and continue with a few flips to gain the knowledge and get the process under control. At this time, I would love to learn what I could do to earn the right to have a sit-down and coffee with current investors in my area or the Chester & Montgomery County, PA area.

I would also love recommendations for great real estate Meetups in the Pennsylvania area to network and meet some awesome likeminded people!
