Starting My Real Estate Investing Journey in 2019

Happy Almost-Friday, everyone! 

I'm curious about creating a timeline to begin my journey as a real estate investor. My goal is to buy my first investment property (either a flip or rental) in 2019. I just closed on my first home in late October 2018. I'm wondering if it makes sense for me to even get into real estate investing so soon after a first-time home purchase (provided that I figure out the financing, renovating, etc.), or should I wait a while?
