FHA 203k contractor issues.

Hello, I was hoping I could get some guidance. Just got approved for a 203k FHA loan. Got a multi family property. I have been having trouble with the timeliness of my contractor. We have everything approved to get started, all he needs to do is pay the architect and start gutting the property but he keeps rescheduling when we will meet with the architect to provide him with payment. I have a timeframe to have the insurance come out and inspect the property but the contractor is moving too slow. Should I fire my current contractor, what do I need to know before doing so and what is the best way to find a new contractor? Because this is an FHA loan I would assume that dismissing him is a little more complicated. I am afraid to let him go due to me needing to get at least my doors and windows set up for the insurance inspector.

That's your first big problem. You are the owner and have final say. You should have direct contact to Architect and be contracted directly to he/she. However with the Contractor as a middleman, you do not know what he's been telling architect nor if the contractor has explicitly relayed what you want done and how.. including the schedule. @Soniel Estime

If it's your loan, why is it being paid to the contractor to then be paid to the Architect? Is the Architect working for GC, as in their employee (Design-Build Firm) or just a sub-consultant (separate business) to them? The bank should be able to pay the Architect directly as long as you acknowledge they are completing services for you. What does your contract say?

The banks usually have a 203K loan officer familiar with the process. What loan officer would approve this hierarchy?
