Hey guys! New real estate investor here, but have been a professional investor in private equity and public asset management over the last 10 years. Always had real estate in the back of my mind, but thought it was something I’d do “later” in life. Chunk of my personal capital is in REIT ETFs and Fundrise, but after lurking on the forums, reading a few books and listening to the podcast, I want/need to get deeper into direct investing. I’ve seen the magic of leverage first hand in conducting LBOs of tech companies and I’m ashamed I didn’t move into real estate sooner. Anyways, my goal is to initially build a small portfolio of SFR/duplexes for stable, passive income with ambitions to scale more meaningfully over time as the snowball rolls downhill. Have been conducting market research on Kansas City for my first purchase. Live in California, but planning a trip to KC for more diligence in January. Wanted to drop my story here and see if there are relevant brokers, investors, lenders, property management constituents, etc. to network w/ beforehand. I’d be open to meeting in person next month if it makes sense. Cheers, Mike
