Hello BP community. I have a plumbing question hoping someone can help with!!!

we have an 8 plex we just purchased. The drain lines leading into the stack are galvanized steel and are clogged up with grease and debris. It is a 2 in" pipe but down to 1 in" due to build up, what would be your suggestion to clear these lines? PM company is suggesting jet washing or re routing lines into the stack. is there another way i.e snaking that would remove this debris? Is this a complete re plumbing job that we are about to have to do on this property? Any advice would be really useful. Not sure if this is posted in the correct area but hey!

Thank you all for any help advice!!

Short of converting to PVC, you can try some drain clearing products at Homedepot and Lowes that uses enzymes to remove the build up. A snake head will just follow the path that's already there. It will work for a complete blockage, but to clear the buildup of soap and grease, you need a drain clearing product to break down that mess.

Zep has a product called Drain Care. There are a few others like Bio-Clean and Green Gobbler.

You have to have flow already, so they won't work well with a complete clog. But if you have flow and it's just really slow from the build up, these products will help to remove that. They usually take a few treatments and it's best to use them late in the day when no one will be running water so that the enzymes get a chance to work.
