Starting a Local Meetup

Hello,

I'd like to start a meetup in my area, which is a small mountain town. My question is, what works at meetups? Should I put together a presentation or should it be more of a free flowing networking event? I'm not too sure how to make it run smoothly.

Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated on this subject. Thank you!
