Where to store money during accumulation for down payment on home

Hello everyone,

Newbie here trying to get some options on where to store money during the accumulation phase for a down payment on a home.  I have some funds planted in an S&P 500 fund but with my horizon being early 2020 I am getting a little weary about losing principle especially with so much fluctuation in the market.  Does anyone have any other options they use that get them at least a 4% return or more that is a little more stable.

@Richard Sherman you do make a very good point

this is real estate money not stock money.  @Matt K. about 50K sounds like a savings account is the way to go!
