Do you have to get your Real Estate License before investing?

So i want to start my Real Estate career as an investor, however, a few persons mentioned to me that I should get my Real Estate license first, register under a broker and practice first. But I want to jump right it. Should I continue to educate myself by reading online or should I take an online course, get my license and practice as an agent and move up? Thoughts? Suggestions

You can get your license for your own benefit. You do not have to be a "realtor" or work as a "realtor" just because you have your license. Having access to the MLS is a great tool for comps, etc. Also for being able to let yourself into properties without waiting on an agent. Many investors are licensed and it is not a detriment.
