Purchasing A Home Before it Hits the Auction?

Hello,

I'm trying to acquire property off market to flip.  I've been finding tons of property on Zillow that are foreclosed on and going into auction.  I see that there is already a listing agent assigned.  Is it possible to go directly to the seller to try and purchase their property from them before it goes to auction?

Once we show proof to the bank, would they take it off the auctions list?
