Newbie Here. Need Suggestions on to Do With My Situation

Hi,

I just joined BP this week. I am overwhelmed by all the info and am still learning. Loving it.

A bit about me. I'm currently 48, have no experience in RE, and live in silicon valley (San Jose, CA). I do not own any property. Through my career I've accumulated some amount of money and decided to take an early retirement last year. I maintain my life expense through stock trading (yeh, I'm a professional), and think I should diversify my portfolio. By chance I get to know BP and find it so amazing. I'm convinced to give my whole heart to real estate investing.

I'm currently looking to connect with real estate agents that can help me start up. Since I no longer have W-2 income, I'm also looking for partners that could help me with the fund. I can personally chip in ~$300K cash to start with. I would like to start with multi-family unit in California. My goal is to purchase at least one property in the coming 6 months, and build on top of it.

Please contact me and let's get it rolling.

@Hsiu-Ping Peng have you considered finding a reputable syndicator and investing with them passively? I love REIA investing, but I am not sure I would start "land lording" if I were in your shoes. You sound like a smart guy who has had a lot of success in your career, and also you sound very capable of evaluating stocks, etc. Having the W-2 is so helpful when you are starting out buying rental properties. Also, the current environment almost makes it easier to buy a 200 unit rather than a 2 unit in most markets!
