How to Learn about RE market places outside of your community

Hi guys, I have recently been looking into undervalued properties, with the idea of doing a fix and flip and or fix and hold, but am having trouble sourcing information about marketplaces with great upside or buying opportunities. I am from San Diego, so by nature I have been looking around neighborhoods not to far from myself but cannot seem to find those killer deals because of such high PP and an overcrowded market. If anyone has advice or tips on how to learn more about market places outside of my immediate community that would be much appreciated. Thanks.
