Referrals for my mentor

Hey everyone! I am still fairly new to real estate and I am curious about how to get referrals for my mentor. I know that simply talking to people I know is the best way but I am more interested in other marketing strategies that I can do from home as well. Also, are there any websites that I can go to to start building my client list? Thanks in advance for all of the advice! Carly
