Trying to get started in REI

Hey guys my name is Jorey, I work as a lineman for an electrical cooperative in North Dakota trying to get into REI. My brother and I have went through some classes and seminars which unfortunately does not fit my learning style. I would like to invest in other states because I like to travel and see new places, and meet new people. I was wondering what would be a good state to start at, and what you recommend trying first as far as maybe a wholesale deal or a foreclosure etc. Just not quite sure how to build a team and get started for out of state REI. Thanks!
