Baltimore City Housing Inspection

Hello BiggerPockets Family,

Should I wait to have my house inspected from Baltimore City until everything is fixed or not? It turns out to be a 3 year violation notice on the property I did not know about when I purchased this property as my primary residence. Also every owner before me keep selling the property and the city keeps passing this notice to the next owner.  What's been your experience? Thank you in advance for your responses. #lookingtodotherightthings

It sounds like you have a vacant house notice. That means the use and occupancy permit is revoked and you must get a new use and occupancy permit before using the property.

So yes you need to bring the property up to code in order to get your use and occupancy permit. You apply for the use and occupnacy permit once the property is ready. THey will come out and inspect.

It may be only very minor work needs to be done and you only need the use and occupancy permit and inspection. However if the property needs substatial work you may also need to get the appropriate permits for doing the work.
