Hey everyone, my name is Ethan and I am a 21 year old student at Bryant University in the Providence, Rhode Island area.  I'm looking to absorb as much information as I can on real estate, specifically multi-family home rentals.  My short-term real estate goal is to purchase a home in the Providence area to rent out to other college students.  I'd love any advice or ideas as to how I can optimize my success.  I'm really excited to get started and learn as much as possible from other investors or anyone else who feels they could help me!

Hi Ethan,

Welcome to BP and real estate! It's exciting. I started out in real estate by house hacking through college. If I would've known about it, I definitely would've gotten a second (or more!) rentals and rented by the room to college students as well. It's a great market, especially if you are in the college network.

I would start out by trying to connect with your local REIA or investor meetup. Try to find someone in your area that is already doing what you are interested in. Most people are really happy to give pointers if you approach them sincerely. In our market a lot of the meetups are posted on meetup.com. So you might check that out.

Good luck!
