How to handle curbside garbage pickup in a triplex?

Hello BP,

I have been lurking in the forums for a while but this is my 1st post and I have a question I hope you all can help me with. I am about to purchase my first investment property in the Bronx. It a 3 family home. 2 units are currently rented month to month and the 3rd will be rented shortly after closing after a few minor renovations (currently owner occupied).

We have curbside garbage pickup in the Bronx. Garbage days are Tues, Thurs, and Sat. Who do I make responsible for making sure the garbage and recycling are separated correctly (to avoid a ticket) and placed on the curb on pick up days. Do I designate one tenant or make all the tenants responsible? Do I do it myself? (home is about 15 mins from my primary residence). If I do get a ticket, how do I handle that regarding charging the tenants? This might be a silly question but this all new to me and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
