Help me plan my day? (In Taiwan helping a friend in Milwaukee)
Hello all!
I'm a Milwaukee, WI native currently living in Taiwan. Last year I decided to tackle figuring out how to work remotely and landed a job with a guy who wanted to build a digital marketing agency which serviced companies in the ISP industry (he owned an ISP). I ended up getting a friend hired and trained to take over for me so I could figure out what I wanted to do next.
The last time I was in Milwaukee I spoke with a real estate investing friend about helping him with digital marketing and a few weeks ago we pulled the trigger to start experimenting with things. He's a veteran real estate investor and property manager and I'm a digital marketing dabbler.
So far we have a few ads running on Facebook funneling into an OnCarrot powered website along with some sporadic Craig's List posting (we've gotten one lead from each so far).
My goal with this is to turn working with him into a stable income for myself working 10 to 20 hours/week. I would, ideally, be able to structure the pay more focused on results than hours. That's the problem I ran into with my last job (I'm always trying to figure out how to make myself obsolete! lol)
I would love some feedback from you guys about how you gals and guys think I should best use my time each day. If I dedicated 2 to 4 hours a day to this Monday to Friday, how should I break it up?
Should I be...
- Focusing on SEO (writing articles, keyword research, etc.)
- Split testing ads, copy and landing pages
- Figuring out Google Adwords
- Trolling different listing sites for deals
- Crafting Facebook ads
- Educating myself
Today I found myself spending my allocated time somewhat randomly sifting through blog posts, forum posts, etc.
I know no one can give me THEE answer. :) Something that came to mind while writing all of this is giving myself a concrete work schedule again! I've been waking up "whenever" and doing "whatever" for a little too long. I need to put some structure on this!
Thanks for any feedback, comments, suggestions or motivations you throw my way! I just had a mini-crisis before posting this. Momentarily lost confidence in my ability to deliver value to my friend and thought about trading my time for hours again with another remote work gig. I could comfortably dedicate 10 to 20 hours a week to this for the next 8 weeks without hurting myself financially and giving myself enough time to find another gig if I can't help my friend find success with this.
