Location Considerations & Moving In

Hi all, new to the field and forum.

I’d like to consider purchasing my first property and potentially more thereafter. Thing is, I don’t plan to remain here in Portland, Oregon. I imagine relocating within the next 3-5 years. How do I analyze whether to buy here now (and sell or not sell at the time of relocation), buy elsewhere now (in my desired location), or wait to buy until I’ve settled in my desired location? Also, how to determine whether to live in that property (if it’s local) or continue on as a renter while I rent the new property out?
