Anyone "very successful" and get started in RE later in life?

OK BP is driving me nuts. All these 22 year olds owning 30 doors, etc. 

I'm 32 and I only own a single triplex, in a relatively inexpensive metropolitan area.

I know that there are probably lots of "late bloomers" here. People wait until they are established in their careers, built up some savings etc.

I want to hear your stories, especially if you ended up pretty "successful".
