Approaching a Mentor
Just last week I found out that in the same office building I work at there is a turnkey/wholesaler/flipper. The plan is to approach him with my resume and straight out tell him I would like to work for him on the weekends or before/after my 9-5 job for free or little to no money. Hopefully, in exchange I get to learn.
Thoughts/Questions
He does have employees under him, but not any personal assistants. - Solving a possible problem?
Is too aggressive of me to stop him and hand him my resume? - I don't know the guy other than his first name.
After typing I am realizing I am thinking out loud with this post. Just got to do it right? Worst he can say is no and instead take me on as client.

I'd go say what's up before I just handed someone a resume personally. Maybe you have some common interests.
Had a highly qualified young lady email me her resume out of the blue a few months ago. College athlete, head of civic committees... I was flattered but had no idea what to do for her or how to fit. I was considering asking her for social media help, but with such a stellar resume I didnt want to insult her if I low balled her comp without knowing what the heck to pay on the first place or what to even ask for. See? Us x-ers and boomets need technical help but we don't know what we don't know and sure don't know what a fare rate is. Tell us what you can do.
I like the idea of seeing if he needs help after you build a little rapport. A flooring guy and appliance delivery guy each gave me their numbers and offer to work for free 'just to be around it' but I didn't call either of them. I'd like to think it's because there wasn't a rapport yet, but maybe I'm just an old grump :) Ask if any of your colleagues know him and get introduced!
