Real Estate Licensure

Hello everyone! I'm beginning my real-estate career, and Brandon Turner/Joshua Dorkin's book "The Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Real Estate Investing" suggests earning a real estate license when first starting out. I'd love to follow this advice. I currently live in the state of California, and buying a home here is impossible for me right now (unless I find the right lenders). I'm eyeballing another state, but am unsure if I should earn my real estate license in California or another state where I want to invest.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I should earn my license and if it'd make a difference overall in the grand scheme of things?

My hope in earning a license is that I am able to learn more about the field of real estate investing, and also gain access to a lot more people and connections than I otherwise would without my license.

Thanks in advance!
