seller is negotiating other offers, too late to make offer?

I told my RE agent that I'm very interested in a particular property and she replied that the seller is currently negotiating several offers. I am new to investing so I know there's a good chance I couldn't snag the deal fast anyways but am I wrong to feel like she blew it off too easily since the house is not under contract yet?
