How to partner with other Real Estate Investors?

I have only a few thousand dollars to put down on a property, but I am looking to share the rental income of a large multi-family property with other partners. I have not found a worthy property yet; however, I am interested in working with a skilled team of experienced investors who can help me start my real estate investing journey. I am only interested in passive income from rental cashflows at the moment. 

I am starting to reach out to other investors on the members' page to see if they are interested in partnering with me. Any thoughts on how I can mitigate the risks of doing deals with other people.
