Vacation rental in Austin

Hello, First post, so I hope I'm doing this right. We are moving to Austin in the next month or so and have been looking at houses. I'm not sure where we want to end up long term, so we're considering purchasing a smaller home in a good location, that we would turn into a vacation rental once we figure out where we want to live. While researching this option, I've found that there are quite a few rules and regulations on vacation rentals in Austin. Specifically pertaining to the proximity to other vacation rentals. Does anyone have a good resource or any advise on this? I don't want to buy a home and then find out I can't rent it out. Thanks, Stephen

Stephen, not sure if you've already explored this route, but Austin has a new code revision that is being tested right now called CodeNEXT. Given you're moving to Austin soon it might be able to give you some guidelines on current zoning as well.
