Airbnb permit in Massachussetts

I am helping my aunt who is trying to start renting basement add-on on airbnb. She went to get permit from town but they said it could not be rented on airbnb (East Longmeadow, MA). When reviewing the town's website I could not find any evidence to this. Any suggestions on how to proceed?  I have spent a couple of hours searching and can see Massachussetts has taxation on it; but can't find much more on the town specifically. Any help would be truly appreciated. Thanks!
