House hacking question

In short I'm looking to begin real estate investing using the house hacking strategy. FHA loan preferably on a 4-plex.

Here is the back story before I ask my question. I own a trucking company and always on the road away from the state I am from. So the question is does someone have to get the house hacked property in the state where their license or mailing address is? Obviously I understand you have to "live" in one unit But if business is registered in say New Jersey as well as license can I get the hacked property in say Indiana?
