Updated over 7 years ago,
I'm finally ready to get started, but...
...I live in an expensive area and have no money that I can invest at the moment. (I know, typical.) I also am overwhelmed with all the information and options of investing out of the area/state that I don't really know how to do proper research for that yet. (Analysis paralysis and still doing my homework/reading!) So rather than just giving up or waiting until I've read "ALL THE BOOKS", I'm wondering if there is anyone in the San Luis Obispo area that I might be able to help out on evenings/weekends?
Here's what I think I can offer: I have lived here (or in North Santa Barbara County) for the last five years, 10 if you count when I started at Cal Poly. I am about 6 months away from getting my architecture license. While I may not be licensed yet, I am familiar with property research in San Luis Obispo and Northern Santa Barbara County. I do not currently work on residential and have more experience with commercial properties, but I am familiar with the California Building Code for commercial (think multifamily) and have access to the Residential Code. I also know a few contractors that might be able to help if you are doing a fix/flip, though I am not sure of their current workload. I am closest to SLO and would be willing to visit properties you are interested in. I have access to software that may help with marketing designs (think SketchUP/InDesign) if you are in need of some quick graphics. Oh! And I do plan on getting my real estate license within the next year, which will help, but don't count on that yet since it hasn't happened yet. (Just know that is part of my plan.) I'm sure there are other things, but that is all I can think of at the moment...
In return, I'm hoping I can learn about investing, to build relationships, and to create opportunities that will lead me to my goal of financial freedom.
I wish I would have started taking action on this journey three years ago when I discovered Bigger Pockets. But life happens, bad relationships happen, etc. I've been absent from BP for a while but I am finally in a place where I can focus on working toward my goal of "financial freedom". I have listened to a bunch of podcasts, done some reading, and have more reading to do. But the biggest thing I need to work on is networking, one of my weakest traits/skills. So here it goes!
Please feel free to reach out to me if you think I can help.
