Wanting to start creating passive income

I need some advice as to where to start out investing to create passive income. I am part owner of an electrical contracting firm. I have been fortunate and wise with my income and have paid off all of my debts and saved up a years salary as well as 50K to invest. My 401K ( company match is maxed out) and I am looking for ways other than the stock market to invest funds. Particularly in real estate, my issue is that with my career I do not have alot of spare time. I have considered real estate crowdfunding as well as REIT's but I'm not sure which direction to go. Any advice would be appreciated.
