Wholesale in Califronia-How to start? College Student please help

Hi! I was wondering if you can legally wholesale in California, without a real estate license. If so, how? I'd really love to get started. I am still planning to get my license though. I really don't know where to start and would love if I can get plugged into a community of REI's. I am around the city of Pomona and Claremont so its Southern California. But any advice and tips and expertise is really helpful! I am determined and I've been planning a lot but I really don't know where to start. THANK YOU!
