Newbie question about getting my real estate license
Hi Everyone,
Ok, I need some advice. I am a stay at home mom. My husband has a good career but we have always been interested in real estate investing (I have a background and degree in economics and small business). I am trying to decide if I should get my real estate license. My desire is to work for myself ultimately, and I know for sure I cannot commit to a full-time schedule working for a brokerage firm. In order to maintain your license here, it is my understanding that I have to stay working for a brokerage firm, or eventually become a broker myself (but I have to work for a broker for 3 years first before I can get my brokerage license here in Michigan).
Given this, would anyone even be willing to hire me part time? Or is there a way I can get in with a company that is ok with just making commissions off of me as I am able to pull in business, rather than committing to a rigorous schedule?
Basically, I don't want to go through the trouble of the courses and testing just to not be able to find a broker who is willing to work with my somewhat limited schedule. Are there any other part timer's on here (especially in Michigan), who have gone through this already and have some advice for me? Thank you!
