new to real estate business

Hi.  I live in the Dallas area and my friend and I are looking to purchase our first house to 'rehab'.  We have been researching and learning about the local industry for the past 5 mos but have concluded we need a mentor in this business.  We reached out to one or two  but they didn't pan out. 

Any suggestions ?  The Real Alliance? or does anyone know someone who would be willing to talk to us about this type of business -which for now would be part time as one person works full time etc.    Thank you in advance.
