Most productive way to spend my time while saving up money?

My fiance and I are saving money to invest towards our first flip.  At our current rate of saving, I imagine we'll be comfortable moving forward in late summer 2018.

In the meantime, I'm trying to figure out the most productive way to spend my spare time.  I don't want to be sitting idle for a year and a half when there's something productive I should be doing now.

I'm going to REI networking meetings once a month and trying to learn as much as I can from people who are currently flipping. I'm also keeping an eye on the homes being sold by local flippers to see what kind of renovations they're doing.

Without the cash to make an actual move, I don't think its appropriate to be negotiating with potential sellers, so I haven't been knocking on doors, mailing out letters, or cold calling anybody. Should I be doing these things anyway?

Besides networking with investors, what should I focus my attention on?

Thanks!
