Best way to find a decent real estate agent

Hello, 

I am just striking the surface of real estate investing and want to start looking at my local market. I've heard of many ways to find real estate agents (from simply googling local ones to referrals from friends and family).  

1) What is the best way to find a decent real estate agent?

2) Will a real estate agent charge me for providing leads on properties that match my criteria?

3) Once I have an agent will I have unlimited access to the MLS?
