Hello BP Community- Newbie from Saipan here

Hello BP,

I moved to Saipan about a year ago after living in China for 3 years.  Don't worry if you haven't heard of Saipan, I hadn't heard of it either until I found a job and moved here.  In case you're curious, Saipan is a US commonwealth located very close to Guam.

Saipan's location in the Pacific is ideal for investing in Southeast Asia.  Do any of the members here have any experience with real estate investing in this region?

Like most of the other members here, I have decided I don't want to be a poor dad.  I don't want to make my bosses rich.  Actually I don't want to have a boss at all.  So, I came here with the hopes that this community can help me to achieve my goal of financial independence.

My problem now is that, at my current income it will take years to save for my first down payment.  I would like to find a way to accelerate this process.  I know I have a long road ahead of me, so I would like to start ASAP.  For those of you who didn't have $50K lying around, how did you do your first deal?  Did you find a way to put no money down or did you find a way to save more money faster?

Any book recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated.  Also, feel free to PM me if you live nearby or want to hear more about China.  Thank you BP!

-Cody
