Tax help!! First time LLC

Hello!

My father and i formed an LLC in March of 2016 to flip houses. We purchased a house to rehab in September and sold it this past February.

Our LLC is classified as a Partnership with the IRS and says to file a form 1065 by the 15th.

My father's usual accountant has been helping us with general questions. She told us whatever expenses or profits were tied to the house we sold will be filed for taxes in the year the house was sold, so with 2017 (regardless if the expenses were made in 2016).

But we still have regular business start-up expenses from 2016 (computer, office stuff, costs of creating the LLC, etc.)

She told us to bring her our paperwork so she could make us the schedule K-1 for 2016, as well as drop off what we have for 2017 so far. SO after trying to get in contact with her for a while to schedule an appointment, she finally calls back and says she doesn't do LLC taxes...

This is our first time dealing with an LLC and im not entirely sure what to do anymore. She gave us the number of another accountant but being this close to the deadline now im sure he's busy. ( He has yet to call us back)

As far as i understand i just need to file the form 1065 and k-1 correct? Should I just download Turbotax Business and do it from there?

What about State taxes?? When we formed the LLC the lawyer told us it was best to create one in a state we don't live in. So our LLC was formed in Utah BUT we live in Indiana and will so far only be doing flips in Indiana. Do we have to file state in BOTH Utah and Indiana??

Please help!

I would recommend you DON'T try to do this on your own. It sounds like you've got a lot of mixed and confusing advice. Text me and I will send you the contact info for my accountant. He's worth every penny I pay him. Worst case is you file an extension to buy you extra time to get them done correctly. There are probably other ways to set up the way your LLC is taxed to minimize the tax consequences.
